A vulnerability was found in the Linux kernel in versions prior to v5.14-rc1. Missing size validations on inbound SCTP packets may allow the kernel to read uninitialized memory.
CVE-2021-34693 2 Debian, Linux 2 Debian Linux, Linux Kernel 2026-10-08 5.5 Medium
net/can/bcm.c in the Linux kernel through 5.12.10 allows local users to obtain sensitive information from kernel stack memory because parts of a data structure are uninitialized.
CVE-2020-11494 4 Canonical, Debian, Linux and 1 more 4 Ubuntu Linux, Debian Linux, Linux Kernel and 1 more 2026-10-08 4.4 Medium
An issue was discovered in slc_bump in drivers/net/can/slcan.c in the Linux kernel 3.16 through 5.6.2. It allows attackers to read uninitialized can_frame data, potentially containing sensitive information from kernel stack memory, if the configuration lacks CONFIG_INIT_STACK_ALL, aka CID-b9258a2cece4.
CVE-2018-14647 6 Canonical, Debian, Fedoraproject and 3 more 15 Ubuntu Linux, Debian Linux, Fedora and 12 more 2026-10-07 7.5 High
Python's elementtree C accelerator failed to initialise Expat's hash salt during initialization. This could make it easy to conduct denial of service attacks against Expat by constructing an XML document that would cause pathological hash collisions in Expat's internal data structures, consuming large amounts CPU and RAM. The vulnerability exists in Python versions 3.7.0, 3.6.0 through 3.6.6, 3.5.0 through 3.5.6, 3.4.0 through 3.4.9, 2.7.0 through 2.7.15.
CVE-2026-98262 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-10-07 7.0 High
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ata: libahci: clear PxCLBU and PxFBU for AHCI_HFLAG_32BIT_ONLY A user reported that commit 105c42566a55 ("ata: ahci: force 32-bit DMA for JMicron JMB582/JMB585") made the JMicron JMB585 unusable on his board. The failure is seen as soon as the ahci driver is probed, and booting with iommu=off does not solve the problem. Looking at the AHCI specification, PxCLBU and PxFBU are both read only '0' for HBAs that do not support 64-bit addressing. For HBAs that do support 64-bit addressing, the registers are read write, with a reset value that is Implementation Specific. When using the AHCI_HFLAG_32BIT_ONLY flag, the HBA does support 64-bit addressing, and a 32-bit DMA mask is set by simply clearing HOST_CAP_64. Thus, in this case, we need to explicitly clear the registers to 0.
CVE-2026-98207 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-10-07 5.5 Medium
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mmc: spi: reset bytes_xfered before retrying CRC failures mmc_spi_data_do() updates data->bytes_xfered after each block has been transferred successfully. If a later block in the same data request fails with a CRC error, data->bytes_xfered may therefore contain the number of bytes completed before the failing block. mmc_spi_request() has a private recovery path for such CRC failures. It sends STOP_TRANSMISSION, clears data->error and jumps back to crc_recover to issue the same command and data request again. However, it does not clear data->bytes_xfered before the retry. If the retry succeeds, the request is completed with the bytes from the failed attempt still included in data->bytes_xfered. For a multi-block request this can make the completed request report more bytes than were transferred by the successful retry, and can even exceed the request size when most blocks completed before the CRC error. This is most likely to be observed on MMC-over-SPI systems where long multi-block transfers occasionally hit a data CRC error but the mmc_spi-internal retry succeeds. The data itself is retried, but the completion accounting is not. Clear data->bytes_xfered together with data->error before repeating the request so the final completion reports only the bytes transferred by the successful attempt.
CVE-2026-89594 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-09-14 7.8 High
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: hsi: omap_ssi_core: fix missing DMA mask setup for SSI controller device The OMAP SSI driver uses a synthetic HSI controller device allocated via hsi_alloc_controller(), which does not go through the normal OF/platform device initialization path. As a result, the embedded struct device does not have a DMA mask initialized by default. After recent DMA API hardening changes, dma_map_sg() and related helpers now require a valid dma_mask to be present, otherwise the driver may crash or trigger warnings when attempting DMA mapping operations. Fix this by explicitly initializing the DMA mask for the SSI controller device and setting a 32-bit DMA mask, which matches the hardware capabilities.
CVE-2026-89540 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-09-14 7.8 High
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: sunrpc: init gssp_lock before publishing proc entry create_use_gss_proxy_proc_entry() publishes /proc/net/rpc/use-gss-proxy via proc_create_data() before init_gssp_clnt() runs mutex_init() on sn->gssp_lock. Once the dentry is linked under proc_subdir_lock it is immediately reachable from userspace, so a write that lands in the window drives set_gssp_clnt() into mutex_lock() on a zero-initialized struct mutex. create_use_gss_proxy_proc_entry(net) proc_create_data("use-gss-proxy", ...) /* dentry live */ init_gssp_clnt(sn) mutex_init(&sn->gssp_lock) /* too late */ write_gssp() set_gssp_clnt(net) mutex_lock(&sn->gssp_lock) /* uninitialized */ gssp_rpc_create(...) sn->gssp_clnt = clnt mutex_unlock(&sn->gssp_lock) The window spans only the two statements between proc_create_data() returning and init_gssp_clnt(), so a writer reaches it only if the registering thread is preempted there while another task is already opening the freshly published file. register_pernet_subsys() runs in preemptible context under pernet_ops_rwsem, so that preemption is possible, and the window widens on auth_rpcgss module load, when the proc entry is created for every live net namespace whose tasks are already running. A writer that wins the race locks a zero-filled struct mutex. On CONFIG_DEBUG_MUTEXES the missing magic value trips a "lock used without init" splat; on a production kernel the fast path acquires the lock via CMPXCHG(owner, 0, current). In the latter case a second writer that arrives before init_gssp_clnt() re-zeroes owner can enter set_gssp_clnt() concurrently, shut down the first writer's clnt while it is still in use, and leak the loser's clnt. Fix by initializing sn->gssp_lock in sunrpc_init_net() so its lifetime matches the sunrpc_net it lives in. sn->gssp_clnt is already NULL from the kzalloc that backs net_generic storage, so the lazy helper is no longer needed; drop init_gssp_clnt(), its prototype, and the call from create_use_gss_proxy_proc_entry(). sunrpc.ko is a build-time dependency of auth_rpcgss.ko, so sunrpc_init_net() has always run on every netns before any auth_gss pernet init can publish the proc entry.
CVE-2026-80967 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-09-14 8.4 High
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ALSA: pcxhr: initialize mutexes before requesting threaded IRQ pcxhr_probe() requests pcxhr_threaded_irq() before initializing mgr->lock, even though the threaded handler takes that mutex. Initialize the manager locks before request_threaded_irq() so an early interrupt cannot run against uninitialized mutex state during probe.
CVE-2026-43088 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-09-14 5.5 Medium
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: af_key: zero aligned sockaddr tail in PF_KEY exports PF_KEY export paths use `pfkey_sockaddr_size()` when reserving sockaddr payload space, so IPv6 addresses occupy 32 bytes on the wire. However, `pfkey_sockaddr_fill()` initializes only the first 28 bytes of `struct sockaddr_in6`, leaving the final 4 aligned bytes uninitialized. Not every PF_KEY message is affected. The state and policy dump builders already zero the whole message buffer before filling the sockaddr payloads. Keep the fix to the export paths that still append aligned sockaddr payloads with plain `skb_put()`: - `SADB_ACQUIRE` - `SADB_X_NAT_T_NEW_MAPPING` - `SADB_X_MIGRATE` Fix those paths by clearing only the aligned sockaddr tail after `pfkey_sockaddr_fill()`.
CVE-2026-80953 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-09-13 8.4 High
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: i3c: master: adi: initialize the lock before enabling interrupts adi_i3c_master_probe() requests the IRQ and unmasks REG_IRQ_PENDING_CMDR before the controller's IBI state, transfer queue list and transfer queue lock are initialized. A pending CMDR interrupt can therefore run adi_i3c_master_irq() and take master->xferqueue.lock before the dynamic lock has been initialized. This issue was found by our static analysis tool and then manually reviewed against the current tree. The grounded PoC kept the probe ordering and the IRQ path adi_i3c_master_probe() -> adi_i3c_master_irq() -> xferqueue.lock, with a pending CMDR interrupt arriving after REG_IRQ_PENDING_CMDR is unmasked. Lockdep reported: INFO: trying to register non-static key. you didn't initialize this object before use? lock_acquire+0xbb/0x290 _raw_spin_lock_irqsave+0x36/0x60 adi_i3c_master_irq+0x32/0x56 [vuln_msv] adi_i3c_master_probe+0x5a/0xf47 [vuln_msv] Initialize the transfer queue and IBI state before requesting and unmasking the IRQ.
CVE-2026-43303 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-09-08 7.8 High
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mm/page_alloc: clear page->private in free_pages_prepare() Several subsystems (slub, shmem, ttm, etc.) use page->private but don't clear it before freeing pages. When these pages are later allocated as high-order pages and split via split_page(), tail pages retain stale page->private values. This causes a use-after-free in the swap subsystem. The swap code uses page->private to track swap count continuations, assuming freshly allocated pages have page->private == 0. When stale values are present, swap_count_continued() incorrectly assumes the continuation list is valid and iterates over uninitialized page->lru containing LIST_POISON values, causing a crash: KASAN: maybe wild-memory-access in range [0xdead000000000100-0xdead000000000107] RIP: 0010:__do_sys_swapoff+0x1151/0x1860 Fix this by clearing page->private in free_pages_prepare(), ensuring all freed pages have clean state regardless of previous use.
CVE-2026-64308 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-09-04 5.5 Medium
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: crypto: ccp - Do not initialize SNP for ioctl(SNP_VLEK_LOAD) Sashiko notes: > if SEV initialization fails and KVM is actively running normal VMs, could a > userspace process trigger this code path via /dev/sev ioctls (e.g., > SEV_PDH_GEN) and zero out MSR_VM_HSAVE_PA globally? Would the next VMRUN > execution for an active VM trigger a general protection fault and crash the > host? The SEV firmware docs for SNP_VLEK_LOAD note: > On SNP_SHUTDOWN, the VLEK is deleted. That is, the initialization/shutdown wrapper here is pointless, because the firmware immediately throws away the key anyway. Instead, refuse to do anything if SNP has not been previously initialized. This is an ABI break: before, this was a no-op and almost certainly a mistake by userspace, and now it returns -ENODEV. ABI compatibility could be maintained here by simply returning 0 in the check instead.
CVE-2026-64310 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-09-04 5.5 Medium
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: crypto: ccp - Do not initialize SNP for SEV ioctls Sashiko notes: > if SEV initialization fails and KVM is actively running normal VMs, could a > userspace process trigger this code path via /dev/sev ioctls (e.g., > SEV_PDH_GEN) and zero out MSR_VM_HSAVE_PA globally? Would the next VMRUN > execution for an active VM trigger a general protection fault and crash the > host? sev_move_to_init_state() is called for ioctls requiring only SEV firmware: SEV_PEK_GEN, SEV_PDH_GEN, SEV_PEK_CSR, SEV_PEK_CERT_IMPORT, and SEV_PDH_CERT_EXPORT. After the firmware command, it does SEV_SHUTDOWN on the SEV firmware. Since these commands do not require SNP to be initialized, skip it by calling __sev_platform_init_locked() which only initializes the SEV firmware. This way SNP is not Initialized at all, and HSAVE_PA is not cleared. The previous code saved any SEV initialization firmware error to init_args.error and then threw it away and hardcoded the return value of INVALID_PLATFORM_STATE regardless of the real firmware error. This patch changes it to surface the underlying error, which is hopefully both more useful and doesn't cause any problems. Note that it is still safe to call __sev_firmware_shutdown() directly: it calls __sev_snp_shutdown_locked(), which skips SNP shutdown if SNP was not initialized.
CVE-2026-80523 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-08-27 7.1 High
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: clk: spacemit: k3: set hdma clock as critical HDMA clock is responsible for the internal TCM access path of X100 RISC-V core, so set the clock flag as critical to prevent it from being shut off, otherwise the Linux system will hang, for example in the case of a vector instruction access generates a page fault.
CVE-2026-72286 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-08-22 8.8 High
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: KVM: SEV: Do not allow intra-host migration/mirroring of SNP VMs The intra-host migration/mirroring feature is not fully implemented for SEV-SNP VMs. The proper migration requires additional SNP-specific state such as guest_req_mutex, guest_req_buf, and guest_resp_buf to be transferred or initialized on the destination. The SNP VM mirroring requires vmsa features to be copied as well otherwise ASID would be bound to SNP range while VM is detected as a SEV VM. Reject SNP source VMs in migration/mirroring until proper SNP state transfer is implemented. [sean: let lines poke past 80 chars, tag for stable]

CVE-2026-74577 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-08-22 5.5 Medium
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: mpls: initialize rtm_tos in mpls_getroute() mpls_getroute() builds the RTM_NEWROUTE reply to an RTM_GETROUTE request by filling a struct rtmsg allocated from an skb whose data area is not zeroed (alloc_skb(NLMSG_GOODSIZE, ...)). It sets every field of the header except rtm_tos: r = nlmsg_data(nlh); r->rtm_family = AF_MPLS; r->rtm_dst_len = 20; r->rtm_src_len = 0; r->rtm_table = RT_TABLE_MAIN; r->rtm_type = RTN_UNICAST; r->rtm_scope = RT_SCOPE_UNIVERSE; r->rtm_protocol = rt->rt_protocol; r->rtm_flags = 0; struct rtmsg has no padding, so the one uninitialised byte rtm_tos (offset 3) is copied straight to user space on recvmsg(), leaking a byte of uninitialised heap memory. This is in contrast to mpls_dump_route(), which fills the very same header and does set rtm_tos = 0. Initialize rtm_tos to 0, matching mpls_dump_route(). Reproduced with KMSAN by adding an MPLS route and issuing a non-RTM_F_FIB_MATCH RTM_GETROUTE for its label: BUG: KMSAN: kernel-infoleak in _copy_to_iter+0x36c/0x33f0 _copy_to_iter+0x36c/0x33f0 __skb_datagram_iter+0x196/0x12c0 skb_copy_datagram_iter+0x5b/0x210 netlink_recvmsg+0x37b/0xef0 ... CVE-2026-72134 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2026-08-18 7.8 High
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: spi: imx: reconfigure for PIO when DMA cannot be started When spi_imx_can_dma() selects DMA, the ECSPI is configured for DMA: spi_imx_setupxfer() sets CTRL.SMC and clears dynamic_burst, and spi_imx_dma_transfer() programs the dynamic-burst BURST_LENGTH and the SDMA watermarks. If the DMA descriptor cannot be prepared (dmaengine_prep_slave_single() returns NULL), the transfer is failed with SPI_TRANS_FAIL_NO_START and falls back to PIO. The dynamic-burst DMA path uses its own bounce buffers instead of the SPI core's mapping, so xfer->{tx,rx}_sg_mapped are not set and the core's DMA->PIO retry is skipped; the driver falls back to PIO internally. But none of the DMA-mode configuration is undone, so the PIO transfer runs with CTRL.SMC set, the wrong burst length and dynamic_burst cleared, and the transferred data is corrupted. This is easily hit on i.MX8MP boards that describe ECSPI DMA in the device tree but run SDMA on ROM firmware (no external sdma-imx7d.bin): every ECSPI DMA prepare fails. An Infineon SLB9670 TPM on ECSPI1 then returns shifted TPM2_GetCapability data, is flagged "field failure mode", /dev/tpmrm0 is never created. Set controller->fallback before re-running spi_imx_setupxfer() so the ECSPI is reconfigured exactly like a normal PIO transfer. With controller->fallback set, spi_imx_setupxfer() sees spi_imx_can_dma() return false, so it clears spi_imx->usedma and reprograms the controller (clears CTRL.SMC, restores dynamic_burst and the PIO burst length). No explicit spi_imx->usedma = false is needed: setupxfer() already updates it from the can_dma() result.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: KVM: s390: vsie: Add missing radix_tree_preload() in _gaccess_shadow_fault() Add missing radix_tree_preload() in _gaccess_shadow_fault() to guarantee forward progress. The core of _gaccess_shadow_fault() has been split into ___gaccess_shadow_fault() in order to simplify locking.
