Backstage is an open framework for building developer portals. Prior to 1.54.6, cloud storage catalog providers did not sufficiently validate object paths. A principal able to create or rename objects in a configured Azure Blob Storage or AWS S3 catalog source could cause catalog descriptors to be read from outside the intended storage boundary, limited to locations reachable with the backend's configured credentials. This issue is fixed in 1.54.6.
CVE-2026-106494 1 Backstage 2 Backend-defaults, Backstage 2026-10-09 4.4 Medium
Backstage is an open framework for building developer portals. Prior to 0.17.8, the @backstage/backend-defaults package is affected by improper input validation in cloud storage url readers. An attacker with write access to a cloud storage bucket used by Backstage could craft object names that could collide with protected files in the output directory. In certain deployment configurations, this could lead to content injection. This issue is fixed in version 0.17.8.
CVE-2026-106496 1 Backstage 2 Backstage, Plugin-catalog-backend 2026-10-09 3.1 Low
Backstage is an open framework for building developer portals. Prior to 3.9.1, the @backstage/plugin-catalog-backend package is affected by inconsistent enforcement of allowed location types during catalog processing. Prior to 3.5.1, 3.6.2, 3.7.2, 3.8.2 and 3.9.1, the @backstage/plugin-catalog-backend package is affected by improper url validation in catalog entity placeholder resolution. An authenticated Backstage user could craft a catalog entity with placeholder directives that reference resources outside the entity's source repository. Under certain configurations, this could allow access to data not intended to be available to the user. This issue is fixed in versions 3.5.1, 3.6.2, 3.7.2, 3.8.2 and 3.9.1.
CVE-2026-106510 1 Backstage 2 Backstage, Plugin-techdocs-node 2026-10-09 7.7 High
Backstage is an open framework for building developer portals. Prior to 1.14.6, the @backstage/plugin-techdocs-node package is affected by remote code execution via crafted markdown_extensions in techdocs mkdocs.yml. An authenticated user who can register catalog entities can provide a crafted mkdocs.yml causing arbitrary OS command execution on the TechDocs build host when the docs are built. This issue is fixed in versions 1.14.6 and 1.15.4.
CVE-2026-106556 1 Backstage 2 Backstage, Plugin-techdocs-node 2026-10-09 7.7 High
Backstage is an open framework for building developer portals. Prior to 1.14.6, the @backstage/plugin-techdocs-node package is affected by configuration bypass in techdocs mkdocs.yml sanitization. Insufficient validation of MkDocs configuration during TechDocs generation could allow an authenticated user who can register or modify documentation sources to execute arbitrary commands in the build environment. Impact is limited to resources accessible to the TechDocs backend or build container. This issue is fixed in versions 1.14.6 and 1.15.4.
CVE-2026-106558 1 Backstage 2 Backstage, Plugin-techdocs-node 2026-10-09 8.8 High
Backstage is an open framework for building developer portals. Prior to 1.14.8, 1.15.6, and 2.0.1, the @backstage/plugin-techdocs-node package improperly validated mapping-style markdown_extensions configuration. An authenticated attacker who can register or influence an SCM-backed documentation source may bypass TechDocs sanitization and cause Python objects to be imported and instantiated in the generator runtime, leading to arbitrary code execution. Earlier fixes in versions 1.14.6 and 1.15.4 did not fully address the supported mapping representation of markdown_extensions. Impact is greatest when documentation generation runs with backend credentials, filesystem access, or internal network access. This issue is fixed in versions 1.14.8, 1.15.6, and 2.0.1.
CVE-2026-106559 1 Backstage 2 Backstage, Plugin-scaffolder-backend-module-confluence-to-markdown 2026-10-09 6.3 Medium
Backstage is an open framework for building developer portals. Prior to 0.3.25, the @backstage/plugin-scaffolder-backend-module-confluence-to-markdown package is affected by improper input validation in confluence to markdown scaffolder module. Insufficient input validation in the Confluence to Markdown scaffolder module could allow an attacker to influence file write operations during template execution. Exploitation requires a Backstage user to run a template that processes attacker-influenced Confluence content. This issue is fixed in version 0.3.25.
CVE-2026-106560 1 Backstage 2 Backstage, Plugin-scaffolder-backend-module-confluence-to-markdown 2026-10-09 7.1 High
Backstage is an open framework for building developer portals. Prior to 0.3.25, the @backstage/plugin-scaffolder-backend-module-confluence-to-markdown package is affected by improper repository path validation in a scaffolder backend module. An authenticated user who can execute an affected template and control its repository file location may cause generated content to be written outside the task workspace, within locations writable by the Backstage backend process. This issue is fixed in version 0.3.25.
CVE-2026-106557 1 Backstage 2 Backstage, Plugin-techdocs-node 2026-10-09 7.7 High
Backstage is an open framework for building developer portals. Prior to 1.14.6 and 1.15.4, the @backstage/plugin-techdocs-node package did not sufficiently validate TechDocs Markdown extension configuration. An authenticated user who can register or modify documentation sources may cause a TechDocs build to access resources outside the intended documentation boundary, potentially exposing backend-host data or internal network resources. This issue is fixed in versions 1.14.6 and 1.15.4 when pymdown-extensions 10.21.3 or later is also used, normally through mkdocs-techdocs-core 1.7.0 or later.

Prior to 3.3.1, 3.4.1, 4.0.3 and 4.1.0, the @backstage/plugin-scaffolder-backend package is affected by scaffolder action input authorization bypass. An authenticated user with access to affected Scaffolder templates could bypass configured action restrictions. Depending on integration credentials, this could grant unauthorized access to repositories and related source-control resources. This issue is fixed in versions 3.3.1, 3.4.1, 4.0.3 and 4.1.0.
CVE-2026-106499 1 Backstage 2 Backstage, Plugin-scaffolder-backend 2026-10-07 4.9 Medium
Backstage is an open framework for building developer portals. Prior to 4.1.0, the @backstage/plugin-scaffolder-backend package could expose secret-derived values in Scaffolder task logs. Deployments that configure sensitive scaffolder.defaultEnvironment.secrets and allow an attacker to create or modify Scaffolder templates are affected. A template author could cause secret-derived values used during template iteration to be persisted and exposed to users who can access the resulting task logs. This issue is fixed in version 4.1.0.
CVE-2026-106504 1 Backstage 2 Backstage, Plugin-scaffolder-backend 2026-10-07 6.5 Medium
Backstage is an open framework for building developer portals. Prior to 4.1.0, the @backstage/plugin-scaffolder-backend package is affected by sensitive information exposure in scaffolder task logs. An authenticated user who can create and read scaffolder tasks may be able to observe sensitive values in task logs in deployments with restrictive action permissions and affected templates. Exploitation requires a denied action whose input contains such a value. This issue is fixed in version 4.1.0.
CVE-2026-106501 1 Backstage 2 Backstage, Plugin-scaffolder-backend 2026-10-07 9.6 Critical

Prior to 3.3.1, 3.4.1, 4.0.3 and 4.1.0, the @backstage/plugin-scaffolder-backend package is affected by sensitive information exposure in scaffolder. An authenticated Backstage user who can read another user's Scaffolder task may receive internal execution data. In deployments where that data contains credentials for an external service, this may permit disclosure and unauthorized changes in that external service. This issue is fixed in versions 3.3.1, 3.4.1, 4.0.3 and 4.1.0.
CVE-2026-106461 1 Backstage 2 Backstage, Plugin-scaffolder-backend 2026-10-07 4.3 Medium
Backstage is an open framework for building developer portals. Prior to 4.1.0, the @backstage/plugin-scaffolder-backend package is affected by incorrect authorization in scaffolder task listing. An authenticated internal user may be able to view metadata for scaffolder tasks outside the visibility intended by a deployment's permission policy. Stored task secrets are not included in the affected response, and no integrity or availability impact was identified. This issue is fixed in version 4.1.0.
CVE-2026-106502 1 Backstage 2 Backstage, Plugin-scaffolder-backend 2026-10-07 5.3 Medium
Backstage is an open framework for building developer portals. Prior to 4.1.0, the @backstage/plugin-scaffolder-backend package could expose sensitive information in Scaffolder task failure events. Prior to 3.3.1, 3.4.1, 4.0.3 and 4.1.0, the @backstage/plugin-scaffolder-backend package is affected by improper task state validation in scaffolder backend. An authenticated user with permission to create and access Scaffolder tasks may, under specific timing and deployment conditions, affect files accessible to the Backstage backend. If backend application files are writable, the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the backend may be compromised. This issue is fixed in versions 3.3.1, 3.4.1, 4.0.3 and 4.1.0.
CVE-2026-88064 1 Backstage 1 Backstage 2026-09-17 8.8 High
Backstage is an open framework for building developer portals. Prior to 1.14.6 and from 1.15.0 until 1.15.4, the @backstage/plugin-techdocs-node package insufficiently validates mkdocs.yml supplied by an authenticated user who can register or modify a TechDocs source. Unsafe Python YAML tags, markdown_extensions names and configuration, theme options, and extra_templates values can reach the documentation generator and cause unintended code execution. The resulting impact is limited to the files, credentials, network access, and other resources available to the TechDocs backend or build container. This issue is fixed in versions 1.14.6 and 1.15.4.
CVE-2026-73563 1 Backstage 1 Backstage 2026-08-13 4.7 Medium
Backstage is an open framework for building developer portals. Prior to 0.29.2, the experimental dynamic client registration and client ID metadata document features in the @backstage/plugin-auth-backend use full-string matcher.isMatch glob matching for auth.experimentalDynamicClientRegistration.allowedRedirectUriPatterns and the auth.experimentalClientIdMetadataDocuments allowedClientIdPatterns and allowedRedirectUriPatterns options. A hostname wildcard can match across URL component boundaries, allowing an attacker-controlled redirect URI with a trusted hostname suffix in its path to pass the allowlist and receive an OAuth authorization code after a victim completes the flow. Patterns without an explicit protocol can match unintended protocols, and redirect URIs containing embedded credentials are accepted after user information is stripped for matching. The features are experimental and disabled by default; only deployments that enable them and configure custom wildcard-hostname or protocol-less patterns are affected. This issue is first fixed in prerelease version 0.29.2.
