CVSS v3.1 |
| The `_nx_secure_x509_asn1_tlv_block_parse()` function parses ASN.1 TLV (tag-length-value) blocks out of DER-encoded data. It is the primitive underneath all X.509 certificate parsing in NetX Secure, and therefore runs on certificates supplied by a remote peer during the TLS handshake.
The function reads the one-byte ASN.1 tag from the caller's buffer *before* checking that the buffer holds at least one byte. When a caller passes a remaining length of zero, the guard correctly returns `NX_SECURE_X509_ASN1_LENGTH_TOO_LONG`, but the read has already happened one byte past the end of the buffer.
code:
nx_secure/src/nx_secure_x509_asn1_tlv_block_parse.c
```
UINT _nx_secure_x509_asn1_tlv_block_parse(const UCHAR *buffer, ULONG *buffer_length, USHORT *tlv_type,
USHORT *tlv_tag_class, ULONG *tlv_length,
const UCHAR **tlv_data, ULONG *header_length)
{
UINT current_index;
USHORT current_tag;
ULONG length;
ULONG length_bytes;
current_index = 0;
current_tag = buffer[current_index]; /* <-- read before the bounds check */
if (*buffer_length < 1)
{
return(NX_SECURE_X509_ASN1_LENGTH_TOO_LONG);
}
```
The remainder of the function is correctly ordered. The multi-byte length path is guarded by `length_bytes > 4 || length_bytes > *buffer_length` before its read loop, the decoded value is checked against `length > *buffer_length`, and the second single-byte length read follows its own `*buffer_length < 1` guard. The tag read is the only load placed ahead of its check. |
| An out-of-bounds read in libXtst's RECORD reply parser in libXtst before 1.2.6 could be used by malicious X servers to crash attached X clients. |
| NVIDIA ConnectX and Bluefield contain a vulnerability in a control register, where a user with VF access could cause improper access control for the register interface by sending a malicious command to the firmware. A successful exploit of this vulnerability might lead to denial of service. |
| The strncasecmp function in the GNU C Library 2.24 and later optimized for the Power8 architecture may read one byte beyond the input size limit, which may crash a program when that byte is not readable.
This condition may happen when the input strings to the strncasecmp function are attacker controlled in an application and they match all the way up to the edge of their page and the neighbouring page is either not mapped or is not readable. |

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
drm/gud: validate TV mode names before creating enum property
The GUD protocol returns TV mode names as fixed-size
GUD_CONNECTOR_TV_MODE_NAME_LEN entries and requires each name to be
NUL-terminated.
gud_connector_add_tv_mode() currently passes each fixed-size entry
directly to drm_mode_create_tv_properties_legacy(), which eventually
reaches drm_property_add_enum() and strlen(). If a device returns an
entry without a terminating NUL byte, strlen() reads past the end of
the slot and can run beyond the allocated buffer, triggering an
out-of-bounds read.
Validate that each returned TV mode name contains a NUL terminator
within its fixed-size slot before passing it to the DRM property code.
If a malformed entry is found, reject the device response with -EIO.
This fixes the out-of-bounds read without changing the handling of
valid devices, and avoids silently truncating malformed protocol data. |
| Velociraptor stores the compiled VQL in the hunt object internally to avoid having to recompile the artifacts for each endpoint in the hunt. Although the field "compiled_collector_args" is an internal field, Velociraptor allowed the field to be set from a user API call. This allows another user who can schedule a hunt (minimal role of "investigator" ) to set the compiled VQL statements for the hunt bypassing any ACL checks that would normally be applied.
This flaw can then be escalated to allow the "investigator" user to run arbitrary VQL statements as an administrator user on the Velociraptor server. |

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
platform/x86: dell-wmi-base: Fix handling of ultra performance key
The commit message of commit 5fbd827eb9c2 ("platform/x86: dell-wmi: Recognise or support new switches")
states that the ultra performance key contains additional data
after the type and code fields. The event data passed to
dell_wmi_process_key() is already parsed, so "buffer" already
starts after those two fields.
Use the correct index for accessing the first data field to avoid
a potential buffer overread. |
