| XStream is software for serializing Java objects to XML and back again. A vulnerability in XStream versions prior to 1.4.17 may allow a remote attacker has sufficient rights to execute commands of the host only by manipulating the processed input stream. No user who followed the recommendation to setup XStream's security framework with a whitelist limited to the minimal required types is affected. The vulnerability is patched in version 1.4.17. | ||||
| CVE-2020-9546 | 5 Debian, Fasterxml, Netapp and 2 more | 42 Debian Linux, Jackson-databind, Active Iq Unified Manager and 39 more | 2026-10-07 | 9.8 Critical |
| FasterXML jackson-databind 2.x before 2.9.10.4 mishandles the interaction between serialization gadgets and typing, related to org.apache.hadoop.shaded.com.zaxxer.hikari.HikariConfig (aka shaded hikari-config). | ||||
| CVE-2019-16943 | 6 Debian, Fasterxml, Fedoraproject and 3 more | 36 Debian Linux, Jackson-databind, Fedora and 33 more | 2026-10-07 | 9.8 Critical |
| A Polymorphic Typing issue was discovered in FasterXML jackson-databind 2.0.0 through 2.9.10. When Default Typing is enabled (either globally or for a specific property) for an externally exposed JSON endpoint and the service has the p6spy (3.8.6) jar in the classpath, and an attacker can find an RMI service endpoint to access, it is possible to make the service execute a malicious payload. This issue exists because of com.p6spy.engine.spy.P6DataSource mishandling. | ||||
| CVE-2021-39154 | 6 Debian, Fedoraproject, Netapp and 3 more | 21 Debian Linux, Fedora, Snapmanager and 18 more | 2026-10-07 | 8.5 High |
| XStream is a simple library to serialize objects to XML and back again. In affected versions this vulnerability may allow a remote attacker to load and execute arbitrary code from a remote host only by manipulating the processed input stream. No user is affected, who followed the recommendation to setup XStream's security framework with a whitelist limited to the minimal required types. XStream 1.4.18 uses no longer a blacklist by default, since it cannot be secured for general purpose. | ||||

| CVE-2021-29425 | 5 Apache, Debian, Netapp and 2 more | 69 Commons Io, Debian Linux, Active Iq Unified Manager and 66 more | 2026-10-07 | 6.5 Medium |
| In Apache Commons IO before 2.7, When invoking the method FileNameUtils.normalize with an improper input string, like "//../foo", or "\\..\foo", the result would be the same value, thus possibly providing access to files in the parent directory, but not further above (thus "limited" path traversal), if the calling code would use the result to construct a path value. | ||||

| CVE-2021-21342 | 7 Apache, Debian, Fedoraproject and 4 more | 21 Activemq, Jmeter, Debian Linux and 18 more | 2026-10-07 | 5.3 Medium |
| XStream is a Java library to serialize objects to XML and back again. In XStream before version 1.4.16, there is a vulnerability where the processed stream at unmarshalling time contains type information to recreate the formerly written objects. XStream creates therefore new instances based on these type information. An attacker can manipulate the processed input stream and replace or inject objects, that result in a server-side forgery request. No user is affected, who followed the recommendation to setup XStream's security framework with a whitelist limited to the minimal required types. If you rely on XStream's default blacklist of the Security Framework, you will have to use at least version 1.4.16. | ||||
| CVE-2021-21341 | 7 Apache, Debian, Fedoraproject and 4 more | 19 Activemq, Jmeter, Debian Linux and 16 more | 2026-10-07 | 7.5 High |
| XStream is a Java library to serialize objects to XML and back again. In XStream before version 1.4.16, there is vulnerability which may allow a remote attacker to allocate 100% CPU time on the target system depending on CPU type or parallel execution of such a payload resulting in a denial of service only by manipulating the processed input stream. No user is affected who followed the recommendation to setup XStream's security framework with a whitelist limited to the minimal required types. If you rely on XStream's default blacklist of the Security Framework, you will have to use at least version 1.4.16. | ||||
| CVE-2020-26259 | 5 Apache, Debian, Fedoraproject and 2 more | 10 Struts, Debian Linux, Fedora and 7 more | 2026-10-07 | 6.8 Medium |
| XStream is a Java library to serialize objects to XML and back again. In XStream before version 1.4.15, is vulnerable to an Arbitrary File Deletion on the local host when unmarshalling. The vulnerability may allow a remote attacker to delete arbitrary know files on the host as log as the executing process has sufficient rights only by manipulating the processed input stream. If you rely on XStream's default blacklist of the Security Framework, you will have to use at least version 1.4.15. The reported vulnerability does not exist running Java 15 or higher. No user is affected, who followed the recommendation to setup XStream's Security Framework with a whitelist! Anyone relying on XStream's default blacklist can immediately switch to a whilelist for the allowed types to avoid the vulnerability. Users of XStream 1.4.14 or below who still want to use XStream default blacklist can use a workaround described in more detailed in the referenced advisories. | ||||
| CVE-2020-26258 | 5 Apache, Debian, Fedoraproject and 2 more | 10 Struts, Debian Linux, Fedora and 7 more | 2026-10-07 | 6.3 Medium |
| XStream is a Java library to serialize objects to XML and back again. In XStream before version 1.4.15, a Server-Side Forgery Request vulnerability can be activated when unmarshalling. The vulnerability may allow a remote attacker to request data from internal resources that are not publicly available only by manipulating the processed input stream. If you rely on XStream's default blacklist of the Security Framework, you will have to use at least version 1.4.15. The reported vulnerability does not exist if running Java 15 or higher. No user is affected who followed the recommendation to setup XStream's Security Framework with a whitelist! Anyone relying on XStream's default blacklist can immediately switch to a whilelist for the allowed types to avoid the vulnerability. Users of XStream 1.4.14 or below who still want to use XStream default blacklist can use a workaround described in more detailed in the referenced advisories. | ||||
| CVE-2020-26217 | 6 Apache, Debian, Netapp and 3 more | 23 Activemq, Debian Linux, Snapmanager and 20 more | 2026-10-07 | 8 High |
| XStream before version 1.4.14 is vulnerable to Remote Code Execution. The vulnerability may allow a remote attacker to run arbitrary shell commands only by manipulating the processed input stream. Only users who rely on blocklists are affected. Anyone using XStream's Security Framework allowlist is not affected. The linked advisory provides code workarounds for users who cannot upgrade. The issue is fixed in version 1.4.14. | ||||
| CVE-2019-17267 | 5 Debian, Fasterxml, Netapp and 2 more | 21 Debian Linux, Jackson-databind, Active Iq Unified Manager and 18 more | 2026-10-07 | 9.8 Critical |
